Sadder Today Than 5 Years Ago

I have been surfing today to the political comment blogs and I am really saddened by what I have seen. The subject for most discussion there is whether 9/11 was more Clinton's fault or Bush's fault.

This is ABC's contribution to the debate. People are almost pretending like Clinton was flying one plane into a tower and Bush was flying the other or something. Can't we put the Left/Right divide away for one day? Just one?

Five years ago I saw my country come together like I had never seen before. I never thought we could do it, but we did and we forgot. We were one nation for a few weeks five years ago.

You old friend, I want to agree with you.....I want to think peoiple would just come together and focus on sovling problems....

I actually read one website that took the time to Condi Rice a liar over one scrap of paper.....Can you beleive that?!?.....

All without a shred of evidence
anything she said was untrue....I wish people wouldn't be so partisan on a day like today......

And I did offer proof:

“postwar information indicates that Saddam Hussein attempted, unsuccessfully, to locate and capture al-Zarqawi and that the regime did not have a relationship with, harbor or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi.” The report further states that Saddam"was distrustful of al-Qaida and viewed Islamic extremists as a threat to his regime." So what does Condi Rice say today on the Sunday Talking Head Shows?

“There were ties between Iraq and Al-Qaeda…We know that Zarqawi was running a poison network in Iraq."

Kan, Kan, Kan.....the left and hard right acts like Saddam and Usama just could not have had a working relationship because of blah blah blah.....

You do see how silly that is, don't you? Saddam was a wiley bastard, he knew better then to advertise his connections to Usama and Al Queda.....

I do not think Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.......But I absolutely beleive they knew it was going to happen and so did many other countries...

I do beleive that Al Queda had a working relationship with Iraq, it was in there mutual intrest, Saddam allowed them to operate freely in Iraq...Of that THERE IS NO DISPUTE......

Somehow this has morphed into Saddam and Usama had to have a contract written in blood and notarized at the UN under the eye of Kofi Annan, otherwise there was ZERO connection......

I am amazed how many 'Lynn Stewerts' are coming out of the wood work and looking for legal documents between Iraq and al Queda....

That is the dispute. The Senate Intelligence Committe went over everything and said there was zero working relationship between AQ and SH.
Did Iraq know? Probably. I do not think not warning us warrents invasion though. I bet lots of countries knew.

The main thing between you and I with Iraq is timing. I think it could have been held off, you think it was a great place to start.

Held off until when? When Saddam was off sanctions and had more money and more of an arsenal?

I think we were 12 years to late.....I blame George HW Bush more then I blame GW, Clinton, or the repulbican congress....

YOu have already said you dont agree with my theory, but I believe that Saddam was a major force in keeping Iran in check. We should have kept Saddam around until then. I think we could have done quite a bit in Iran in the last 5 years compared to Iraq.

Hopefully we HAVE been doing quite a bit in Iran the last 5 years.....Remember, we (the US ) has secrets, secret as long as the New York Times doesn't broadcast them to the enemy....

For every Iranian spy going out of Iran, there may be two going back in.....

Hope so. I really do.
While I do not believe in "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", I do believe "the enemy of my enemy gives my enemy two things to worry about instead of one."

Agreed Kan, but that cuts both ways.....
