Politics or Pop Culture?

UPDATE- Harry is still going to Iraq so I was totally wrong today. I just read a report that says his platoon will be shipped out in May to Iraq. Not my day for blogging I see.

Pop culture or politics today…I just cannot decide. There are juicy stories coming from both worlds and I just cannot pick. Know what? I am not going to pick. First will be the pop story and I will follow it with politics. Serena and Little- this first part is for you. Rex, the second has your name all over it.

Pop Culture- Jennifer Aniston shot a nude scene for her movie “The Break-Up”, but it was filmed from behind. It was obvious she was nude on the set, but those in the audience saw nothing. It was a sad day for us perverts until the internet produced a photo from the front. I saw the photo a few weeks ago and immediately wrote it off as a fake. Jennifer does not do nudity and I assumed the security during the filming of the scene would have stopped anyone from sneaking a photo. Remember what they say about making assumptions because the Smoking Gun is confirming the lawsuit today. I am thinking this is Jen’s way of rebuilding her floundering career without having to “forget” to wear panties. Why should Lilo, Paris, and Shinehead O’Spears get all the press?

Speaking of getting all the press- Anna's body is rotting in Broward as the judge decides what to do with it. Does not say a lot for the Broward coroner's office, does it?

Politics- England is removing most of its troops from Iraq. They claim the south is secure and they can leave without problems. The Iraqis are ready to take control there it seems. Boy, are they great allies or what? They cover theirs and leave regardless of the state of Baghdad. A true partner in the war would relocate the unneeded troops from the south to the north where they are certainly needed. A real partner in the war would back us up when we needed it instead of letting us send more of ours as they remove theirs.

I do not support sending more troops, but I also do not support being abandoned by our friends. This would be like if we told the British "well, we got the Nazis out of France so the rest is on you." If you commit to a war, you stay until everyone agrees it is time to go home.

I have a feeling the entire withdraw of the British is a Harry issue to be honest. The British did not want Harry to go, but Harry insisted. The British did not want Harry to fight, but Harry insisted. The British wanted to give Harry extra protection while fighting in Iraq and Harry said no. Now the British are taking their toys and going home. They obviously place a higher value on Harry than they do everything they claimed to be fighting for in Iraq.

I have respect for Harry and have lost the little I had for Blair. Harry was willing to put his life on the line when he did not have to. Harry had an out that Cheney, Bush, and Blair did take, but he did not. Instead, Blair is calling off the war to protect the boy who will never be King of England. He is third inline behind his father and his brother.

Lemming- I hope this makes all lemmings happy.

Thank you, thank you. You have made me a happy lemming. I would much rather think about Jennifer nude than war and politics. And I'm not even a lesbian.:)

I think it's sad that poor Anna, a caricature in life, is now having her death turned into a 3-ring circus. Regardless of who and what she was, it's outrageous to let her body rot in the morgue while people duke it out about where to bury her. Just bury the poor woman! I'm not sanguine about the chances of this legal mess getting wrapped up by Saturday. The judge acts like somebody sent from central casting for a sit-com, and the lawyers are behaving like kindergarten bullies.

BTW, I think that if Harry's willing to go to Iraq, the troops should stay where they are until there's some formal resolution to the conflict. He wouldn't be the first prince killed in battle, and I imagine he knows that.

I was thinking more about the law suit, but I think remembering the picture distracted me. This was a very poorly written blog entry. I am ashamed and sorry.

The thing about Harry serving is that his platoon would become targets. His being there would put many others in greater risk. I respect his demanding to go though, I just think it is not right.

It is very wrong for England to pull its troops out though. I can hate the war and still see this as a major betrayal I think.

Don't knock yourself too hard there Kanrei. Me has seen many posts that were written much worse than this one is, usually by me own hand.
Me does admire Prince Harry's intention to face the same realities as his subjects. Me also thinks that Blair be having a lot of trouble at home and pulling out of Iraq will help bolster his political position.

Friendship. A boat that sits two comfortably in fine weather, but only one in foul. (Me be misquoting Ambrose Bierce)

Thank you SM.

Blair is having trouble and this will help him, but he cannot run for re-election I believe. His political career is over. I am bothered by their leaving. I heard it last night on the BBC (I goto sleep to BBC now) and two Congressmen were on the phone and were very clearly upset by this. One was a Dem and one a Repub- one opposed to the war and one not, but both wanted to know why the troops were going home instead of to Baghdad?

The U.S. and the U.K. went in together, so I don't think one should pull out 'til the other does. The U.K. will be leaving the U.S. kind of high and dry, IMO.

The saddest thing is the "We're really glad! This is the best! thing! ever!" spin the administration is being forced to put on the whole thing.

The Brit. withdrawal thing, that is, not the panty-less Aniston thing, though hearing Condi talk about that might be more interesting than either story separately...

This court proceeding is doing someting I never though it could....Turn Howeird K Stern into a symapthic (and pathetic) figure....

Its obvious Anna hated her mother, but there she is trying to get her piece of the pie...I think it's all about money for all of them...They are just fighting for the 5 month old bundle of money......

And that attorney for Birkett just plaing makes me sick.....

I really have not been paying that close of attention to the Anna saga. I saw the story today about the body and, like every other part of this story, thought it sad. Even Britney has gone from funny to sad. NO real politics going on right now. I am getting lost.

I thought the same thing, Rex. Previously, I've seen Stern as, well, kind of scummy. From what I've seen of the hearings, though, he's the most dignified one of them all. He could be lying through his teeth; I don't know. But he is coming off as the most credible witness. More dignified than most of the attorneys, too.

Rex is talking about celebrity? Wow

SJ, that Birkett lawyer is just plain slimy...She has been seen everywhere hanging on Birketts arm and then comes out like a crazed pit bull.....I have never liked her, now I like her even less...

And that Judge is just plain strange...He has no control over what is going on...What does the drug use and paternity case have to do with where Smith is buried?....Nothing!

You should have seen the judge when he read his ruling today, Rex. He ... cried. I've never seen anything like it, and neither had any of the Court TV commentators. One would think this farce is now over, but one would be wrong. There's already an appeal in the works.
