New Motto for Life? At Least for the Day

I was commenting on Scary Monster’s blog (a great place to get those neurons firing in the morning) and really liked a part of my comment. It is not often I pat myself on the back (OK, it is but not in public), but this has got me thinking. SM’s blog always gets me thinking; probably the most scary aspect of him because my thoughts scare even me sometimes. The comment was “when you think about the thousands of sperm that did not make it you realize you succeeded before you were even born- you made it! The rest is cake.” I have found my new motto for life I think.

The average ejaculation consists of around 250 million sperm cells. This means that the person we were to become had to overcome the odds of 1 in 250 million. The odds of winning the lottery is somewhere around 1 in 14 million. This means that I overcame greater odds than winning the lottery almost eighteen times to be who I am today. How could I possibly feel like a loser winning against those odds? Guess what, you overcame the same odds. How could anything ever be impossible after overcoming a 1 in 250 million shot?

Yesterday was “Gothic Day” in the Blogger Realm and my day today seemed to follow suit. Even the sky was overcast and threatening all day long without ever following through. If it could go wrong today, it did and if I could be sad about something today, I was. I dug deep in my head to find things to feed the sadness a few times as well, then I came to the Monster’s blog and posted those words and everything in my head changed. Even the sky outside has cleared up a bit just before sunset.

Today will be “Hippie Happy Day.” I will remember that I am here when I feel down and remember what that means. Work cannot depress me; life cannot depress me because I am a winner. The losers in life are those other 249,999,999 cells that couldn’t find the egg.

Remember this next time you are feeling down- there are no losers in life; not one.

And so goes the power of the written word, Kanrei. That is so freakin' cool.

Another writer asked me the other day why I was compelled to write. My reason, when I thought about it, was very similar to what you've just said--only without Scary M's direct involvement.

It was his passive involvement, but he, you, Serena, etc are my muse. I see things on your sites that spark my thoughts and compel me to write. I am grateful to you all so much and so happy to have found you or that you found me. However that works.

Oh, my goodness, I'm so happy to hear that I beat such odds to get here.

Yesterday was my Gothic Day. Today was actually pretty good. I beat those odds again, apparently.

I like Hippie Happy Days. They sort of make up for the Gothic and Heavy Crap Days.

This was my pep-talk. I had a really hard day and felt like I suck at my job and should quit and move on to something for those with less skill. Writing came to mind =P
I had to write it, not sure why I posted it though. Kind of "Stewart Smally" I think.

Here's my Happy Day haiku dedicated to Kanrei:

morning breaks anew
yesterday may have been dark
today, the sun shines

Scene: The Scary Monster is decending from the golden alter of honour. He is wearing resplendant robes of shimmering lavender and graping the staff of stewardship. As he descends he fails to notice a banana peel that has been casually tossed by one of the fabulously erotic admirers.
He slips! With a bellow he bounces and flounces from his pedestal down the stairs and into the dust.
As he rises he slaps off the dust looks into the camera and says;

Live from New York, it's Saturday Night...

Glad me helped you to realize something you always truly knew in your heart anyway.

P.S. Me always wanted to say that.

Little,
That was a perfect start to my day. Thank you so much.

Rex,
You had me worried. Please come across as a smartass =D. I don't know you any other way. lol

I love my job, but am having a tough week is all. Sometimes I find reminding myself I could quit at any time helps me deal with things. It reminds me that it is my choice.

SM,
Those words used to be the only reason to seek fame.
