Lemming Home Repairs

So you may have noticed I have not updated this weekend. I hope you noticed. If you did not notice, why the hell not? Wait, it doesn’t matter right now because there was nothing to see.

The reason why there was no update is quite simple: I am a cheap bastard. I am using a free demo version of Word because I really cannot afford the 229 for a full version. As a result, I must re-download word every 60 days. It ran out on Friday and I did not get it until a few minutes ago. Why? Because I am really lazy.

What I find so amusing is that Microsoft allows me to download the demo over and over. Most programs do not let you download a demo a second time. I am on my third with Word right now. I did not change my name or email or anything when I got it again. They even have an option under where they ask why you are downloading it that you can say “I do not want to go to the store and buy it”. They must have a reason, but I have no idea what it could be.

Oh well, we are back in business again. Sorry for the delay. Should not happen again for 60 days.

I noticed. Do I win anything?:)

What is with new computers and software these days? I've never before had to pay for any software that came pre-installed in a computer. When I bought my Toshiba laptop, though, I found that I had only a 90-day trial of Word. After 90 days, I had to buy the full version. I went on and did it, somehow finagling the "teacher's" deal for $149. If you're downloading from the Microsoft site, you could look around for that same deal if you decide to buy it. You download it, then get an activation key, and eventually get a disc in the mail. What I DON'T know is, if my computer dies and I have to replace it, if I can install Word from that disc to another computer or will have to buy it yet again. That would suck.

You were gone?

ahahaha......Didn't 'word' come with your computer? I have downloaded the virus killer from Microsoft and it worked great, I got infected with this virus that would not go away...It would disable the pop blocker and reformat ads, over and over nad over again....

When a virus killed my old computer I went out and got another overpriced one with all the bells and whistles, none of which I have used....But having word on it was essential....
